Kitano Seiichirou is a new student who recently transferred to a new high school. He's a kind-hearted student, with one flaw: His face is scary. Though he tries his best to fit in and help others, everyone merely judges him from their first impressions. Through a series of freak coincidences he ends up becoming the "Guardian" of the school, which puts him in the unenviable position of having to protect students from rival gangs, and which brings plenty of unwanted attention upon him. How will he deal with delinquents looking up to him? And how can he preserve his naive helpfulness while under such trying circumstances?

This manga is full of humerous situations that evolve around Kitano, even though he is oblivious to them. How he, and the small group of friends he eventually builds, deal with these situations is entertaining. There is a constant underlying theme of judging people by their appearances, and the problems that can arise from this, but the manga does not force this upon you. If you wish to read it for entertainment, it provides plenty. If you wish to read it for psychological insight, there's also plenty of that. The art is somewhat minimalistic.

Rating: 7.5/10.0
